Greetings CANUFNET!

Coquitlam is uniquely situated in the Lower Mainland bordering the Fraser River and abutting against the Coastal Mountains offering a wide range of urban forestry and natural area management for the successful candidates to deal with and navigate. Some areas of responsibility will be development review for in-fill in urbanized areas to greenfield development, engagement to promote the urban forest and the benefits it provides for the community, stand stability assessment, individual tree assessment, permitting and enforcement, and informing the general public and other stakeholders to urban tree issues and arboricultural best management practices.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-kwuh-tlum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the sq̓əc̓iy̓aɁɬ təməxʷ (Katzie), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
