Hi Jalil,
The non-profit I work at in Montreal runs a program called Ensemble on
verdit <https://grame.org/ensemble-on-verdit/> which offers subsidized
trees to residents, for both new trees and replacement ones, and we do the
actual tree planting as well. If I'm not mistaken it's not dissimilar to
Leaf's program in Toronto.
We operate primarily in the West Island, the nature of Montreal geopolitics
being that there are about a dozen demerged municipalities that aren't part
of the City of Montreal proper (Dorval, Beaconsfield, DDO, etc.). We have
an agreement which each one individually, some of them assume the cost in
full and the resident pays nothing, in others the resident still pays a
couple of hundred or so.
I'm not the person who's actually in charge of the program, but I can
direct you to my colleague(s) if you want to discuss further. I believe
there's also a UofT student who recently reached out to us about our
program, which could be a further avenue for collaboration. Let me know.
Best,
----
