Dear CANUFNET Colleagues:

An “Open Letter to Policymakers at the 30th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30)” was published yesterday in the journal Plants, People, Planet with the following title: “Urban forests as essential infrastructure for climate resilience and biodiversity: A call to policymakers”. Among the 85 authors are 12 Canadians. The paper was led by Manuel Esperon-Rodriguez of Australia. The paper can be accessed here: https://doi.org/10.1002/ppp3.70125

I encourage you to circulate the paper to relevant policymakers in your orbit. A full paper backing up the messages in the letter is forthcoming early in 2026.

Cheers, Peter
