It’s time for our annual meeting – a business meeting for our members and
friends to review our progress, conduct all the necessary business of the
organization, and plan ahead. Here’s what’s on the agenda:
Our Five Year Goals – five years to make a difference
Membership – Join us!
Member Services – How can we best help you?
Nominations – build our team
Finances – approving the audited statements
Five Year Goals
We will be circulating our five year plan for We Conserve in the next week.
At it’s core are three simple, yet challenging goals for Ontario
1. everyone in by 2009 – a province-wide commitment to conserve
2. organized by 2010 – the social, economic and fiscal support systems
to make conservation easy
3. great change by 2012 – meaningful and measurable results by the
Kyoto deadline.
Can we do it? Just maybe. But we are going to have fun trying!
Membership and Member Services
Now’s the time to apply for membership! Check out the website for our
existing list of 44 organizations and 65 individuals HYPERLINK

Meeting
Member Services
As we are beginning to build We Conserve as Ontario’s united conservation
movement, there is a renewed demand for dedicated member services, such as
web-based networking and discussion groups, task forces on policy
recommendations, and networking opportunities. As we develop our membership
base, we will also be looking to introduce new services and opportunities
for all of you to work together in support of a stronger conservation
movement.
E-mail in your ideas and suggestions, or come prepared to suggest ways we
can work together efficiently and effectively!
Nominations
We have one opening on the Board of Directors for this year, and are
accepting nominations. We also appoint (or recommend) representatives to
three external committees (the current reps are noted in parentheses): The
Ontario Aggregate Resources Board (Tony Jennings), the Minister’s Mining Act
Advisory Committee (Evan Ferrari), and the Public Interest Advisory
Committee of the Niagara Escarpment Commission (Chris Hart)
If you wish to nominate someone, or put your name forward, please contact
either Chris Winter (Executive Director) by replying to this e-mail, or
Marcelo Levy at mlevy(at)rforsolutions.com.
Finances
Amazing what we have been able to do for so little. We’ve been able to keep
the organization in the black, even though our project revenue was down this
past year. But looking ahead, it’s all hands on deck to raise new funds and
start building a united conservation appeal. Every good movement needs a
good fundraising campaign!
Don’t forget to RSVP if you can make it. I need to plan for refreshments and
seating.
With thanks,
Chris Winter
Executive Director
