Are you in?
A Five Year Plan for a Conserver Society

 

Dear friends,

 

It’s online, at last.

 

Without a doubt, this is the most ambitious challenge we have laid out for
ourselves in the 56 year history of the Conservation Council of Ontario – a
five year plan to build a conservation movement that will re-shape Ontario
as a conserver society and economy.  Ambitious, yes, but the challenges of
climate change, peak oil, and so many more issues demands no less that a
concerted and united effort to help us all become better conservers.  

 

I’ll let you read it through, but the three goals that shape the plan are:

 

1)  Everyone in by 2009  

By 2009, every organization, business, and municipality in Ontario will have
made a commitment to conserve.  We conserve, and we commit to become better
conservers.

 

2)  Organized by 2010  

By 2010, we will be organized to deliver solutions, with the social and
economic infrastructure in place, supported by strong fiscal policy and a
regulatory framework, and voluntary leadership across all sectors.

 

3)  Great change by 2012

By 2012, we will have made significant progress on the path to a conserver
economy.  

 

We’ll have the formal announcement of the plan in the days following our
annual meeting on Monday.
