Thanks to all of you who helped make 2008 a great year.

And to those of you who have promised to make 2009 a memorable year for the
Conservation Council,

thanks for coming on board!

We will get things rolling early in January, starting with our annual
meeting (postponed from the usual November time slot because of our
Conservation Summit).

NOTICE OF MEETING

The Conservation Council of Ontario

Annual Meeting

January 21, 2009

9:30 to 12:00 noon

Suite 120, 215 Spadina Avenue

Toronto.

On the agenda.

New Membership Class

Given the growing interest in becoming part of the conservation movement in
Ontario, we will introduce a bylaw amendment to establish a non-voting class
of membership. This will allow for fast approval of membership applications
by the Board of Directors, based on support for the Council's mission and a
commitment to conservation. It will for individuals, groups, businesses,
and municipalities to apply for membership online and to have their
expertise, services and products automatically included in a green directory
for Ontario.

The voting members of Council will retain the overall responsibility for
electing the Board of Directors and approving the Council's guiding policy
statements. The application procedure for this membership class will remain
unchanged, with new applications for voting membership being presented to a
full meeting of the Council for ratification.

The veterans on the Council will recall that we used to have a non-voting
category of membership, called Affiliate members. This new class
reintroduces the non-voting membership, but expands it to include our
broader and more inclusive categories of members.

Nominations

The nominations committee will present a slate of candidates for voting
members of the Council and for the Board of Directors.

We Conserve Annual Report

I will be presenting my report on our progress with We Conserve, our program
to develop a united conservation movement in Ontario. This will be an
opportunity for us to review what has worked, and what has not, and to
develop recommendations and action that we can take to help make
conservation easy, affordable, and desirable.

All the best for the holidays,

Chris Winter

Executive Director

The Conservation Council of Ontario
