Web Conference Set up Instructions For CCO members and guests planning to
participate in the Annual Meeting via web conference.

 

We would like to suggest you complete the following in preparation for the
Annual Meeting web session on January 20, 2011:

 

1.       First run the Wimba wizard well in advance of the meeting.  Go to
this URL  <http://gcclive.wimba.com/wizard/launcher.cgi?wc=wms>
http://gcclive.wimba.com/wizard/launcher.cgi?wc=wms  in advance of the
meeting and follow the easy steps to run through the set up "wizard" which
will ensure your computer is ready to go for the web conference. This will
involve enabling pop-up windows to work for the WIMBA website.  Simply click
on Start to begin the process.

Sometimes this requires a little work, as your computer may have two or
three pop-up blockers (ex: Google toolbar, Windows, etc) that have to be
adjusted to allow pop-ups from WIMBA. It is very important to sort this out
well in advance of the start, to resolve any glitches with your computer's
unique setup and ensure you are ready in time.

 

2.      Join the web conference.  Go to
<http://gcclive.wimba.com/launcher.cgi?room=cco>
http://gcclive.wimba.com/launcher.cgi?room=cco enter as participant (Room ID
will be cco) and type in your name (first_last) as user.  This allows you to
view the material as it is being presented, and to listen to the discussion.

Here are your options for being an active participant (i.e. able to speak).

 

a.   Headset and microphone (recommended): If you have a computer headset
with a microphone, then you can participate by simply having your headset
correctly plugged in - no phone necessary (please test that it is working
prior to the start time). If you do not have a computer headset with
microphone (or speakers and microphone attached / built-in), they can be
purchased for as little as $10 from your local business supply (ie: STAPLES)
or computer/AV store (ie:  Future Shop). 
 

b.    Telephone: If you wish to connect by phone, log in and click on the
blue telephone icon on the media bar, which will give you a dial in number
and pin. This will be a 416 area code number.  We can set up a 1-800 number
if people outside Toronto request it.  Please let us know when you RSVP by
Monday January 17.
