North American Feed-in Tariff Policies Take Off
Ontario leads

Feed-in tariffs (FITs) guarantee that anyone who generates
electricity from a renewable energy source - whether they are a
homeowner, small business, or large electric utility - is able to
sell that electricity into the grid and receive long-term payments
for each kilowatt-hour produced.

The SPP is dead, so where's the champagne?

The fact remains that the SPP as a venue for North American
integration, like the Free Trade Area of the Americas as a venue for
hemispheric integration before it, has perished. Furthermore, a new
space has opened up for a reinvigorated civil society push to re-
negotiate NAFTA.

The SPP is dead and we killed it. Let's recognize what we have
achieved and then get back to work.

Oil lobby to fund campaign against Obama's climate change strategy
Email from American Petroleum Institute outlines plan to create
appearance of public opposition to Obama's climate and energy reform

The US oil and gas lobby are planning to stage public events to give
the appearance of a groundswell of public opinion against legislation
that is key to Barack Obama's climate change strategy, according to
campaigners.

Canada Loses Out As U.S. Ups Green Ante

The Obama administration's titanic $60 billion spending plan for the
U.S. clean energy sector is luring investors away from green
businesses in Canada, threatening the industry's growth here.

Already battered by recession and tight credit markets, Canada's
renewable energy and clean technology companies must now compete for
investment with their U.S. peers, who have an unprecedented cache of
federal cash grants and tax incentives.

A start-up, whether it makes turbines for wind farms, solar panels or
electric cars, may think twice before setting up shop in Canada,
curbing the country's ability to create jobs and generate tax
revenue, and losing technological innovation.

The Push to Prescribe: Women and Drug Regulation in Canada
(New book)

The Push to Prescribe, a collective effort of the national working
group, Women and Health Protection, delves into the world of
prescription drugs in Canada, and considers the impact on the health
of women. From the inadequate testing of many drugs on women in
clinical trials, to the sometimes questionable portrayal of women in
illegal prescription drug advertising, Canadian drug policy has not
always paid attention to how women and men are affected differently

Medications and the Heat

Some medications make it harder for your body to control its
temperature. Other meds make it easier for your skin to burn.

Psychiatric drugs, anti-parkinson drugs, antidepressants, some
antihistamines, over-the-counter sleeping pills, anti-diarrhea pills
all increase your risk for heat-illness.

If you are taking any medications regularly, ask your doctor, nurse
or pharmacist if you need to be extra careful during hot weather.

If you feel ill, faint, have difficulty breathing or feel disoriented
visit your doctor or nearest hospital right away.

Canadian healthcare isn't perfect -- but it works far better than the
US system.

American corporations are spreading lies about Canadian health care
to kill Obama's health plan -- and with it his whole movement for
change. Sign a message to Americans about how Canada's system really
works - and how much we value it. Let's set the record straight!
