Calling In vs. Calling Out
Mon. Mar. 25, 8 p.m. ET
As we learn and grow in our capacity to understand the intersectionality between colonialism, racism, capitalism and climate change, we seek to make our communities more inclusive and accountable. When someone’s behaviour does not uphold these values, we often react in ways that are intended to shame or punish. In this session, we will learn how to disrupt our impulse to shame and blame and shift from strategies that punish to strategies that invite accountability.

Politicizing Islam in Austria. On Far-Right Success in the Twenty-First Century
Tues. March 26, noon - 1:30 pm ET
This talk discusses how the far-right Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) adapted anti-Muslim discourse to their political purposes and how that discourse was then appropriated by the conservative center-right Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) to explain the anti-Muslim swerve in Austrian politics, preparing the way for a right-wing coalition government between conservatives and far-right actors that would subsequently institutionalize anti-Muslim political demands and change the shape of the civic conditions and public perceptions of Islam and the Muslim community in a country that had has stood out for its longstanding state recognition of the Muslim community as early as 1912.

What is a Land Sharing Network?
Tues. Mar. 26, 6:30 p.m. PT
Land Sharing is an organized way for settler land-holders to uphold their treaty obligations, or make right in territory without treaty, by supporting Indigenous people to have access to the land the settlers hold as colonial private property. Land Sharing Activities include hunting, fishing, food and medicine gathering, ceremony, cultural practices and culture camps. Land Holders sharing land include farmers, ranchers and faith groups (eg. that own camps), and more. In BC, beach front landholders could be added so that Indigenous people could have land access through “private property” to beaches for shellfish harvesting and land holders with cedar trees could provide access for cedar stripping.

3 Small Actions to Fight Fossil Finance
Tues. Mar. 26, 7 p.m. ET
Join our 1-hour session to learn about 3 quick, easy actions you can take to pressure the big banks and tell our government to regulate banks and pensions now. Many banks hold their annual general meetings in April, which means they’ll be facing pressure from the public and shareholders to stop greenwashing and start funding climate solutions. Meanwhile, parliamentarians are considering financial regulation legislation that would bring our banks in line with climate targets. This is a great moment to make an impact, and we want to help parents get involved! We'll also provide an update about Fossil Fools Day on April 6 and upcoming events where parents can show up in solidarity! Hosted by For Our Kids.

RADIOACTIVE: The Women of Three Mile Island
March 28, 7 p.m. ET
Cinema du Parc Montreal
RADIOACTIVE: The Women of Three Mile Island tells the story of the first four "concerned" mothers, a legal team of two women and a journalist, all today much older, wiser and bolder. The film also reveals the story of a radical new health study that could finally reveal the truth about fusion. For more than forty years, the nuclear industry has done everything in its power to conceal its criminal acts, claiming, as it always does, that "no one has been injured and that nothing important has happened. The film will be screening in Montreal for one day only! There will be a Q&A discussion after the film, at 8:30, with Gordon Edwards of CCNR, Cym Gomery of World BEYOND War and Robert Del Tredici, photographer and author of The People of Three Mile Island.

Richland: Film screening and Q and A
Thur. Mar. 28, 1:30 p.m.
Northrop Frye Hall Rm. NF003, 73 Queen's Park Crescent East #Building 515, University of Toronto
Built by the US gov't to house the Hanford nuclear site workers who manufactured weapons-grade plutonium for the Manhattan Project, Richland, Washington is proud of its heritage as a nuclear company town and proud of the atomic bomb it helped create. RICHLAND offers a prismatic, placemaking portrait of a community staking its identity and future on its nuclear origin story, presenting a timely examination of the habits of thought that normalize the extraordinary violence of the past. Moving between archival past and observational present, and across encounters with nuclear workers, community members, archeologists, local tribes, and a Japanese granddaughter of atomic bomb survivors, the film blooms into an expansive and lyrical meditation on home, safety, whiteness, land, and deep time.

Topics will include:
- District energy versus air source heat pumps
- Demands on the electrical grid and their financial implications
- Ideas to improve regulatory and financial frameworks
Our guests are Peter Tabuns, MPP for Toronto-Danforth and opposition critic for Energy and Climate Action, and John Stephenson, co-founder of the Boltzmann Institute.
