ONTARIO

Ontario's Bill 212 - Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024

If passed, this bill would require municipalities to secure provincial approval for any new bike lanes and would allow the ON Gov't to rip up existing bike lanes including those on Bloor St., Yonge St., and University Ave. in the City of Toronto. It would also raise highway speeds, speed up the construction of priority highways like Highway 413, and freeze road test fees.

Submit your own comments on Deadline: Nov. 20.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9fXxcg6Ct0

Toronto City Council meets this week, starting Wednesday, and there are two added agenda items on the threat to main bike lane spines by the Ford government's Bill #212, being rushed through in a shortened session, after an extra-long summer break.

Councillor Saxe's Motion MM23.14:

And Mayor Chow's report:

https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2024.CC23.1

Please write/email to Council and offer your support: councilmeeting at toronto.ca

Call or text Premier Doug Ford at 647-612-3673 and tell him that bike lanes save lives.

Sign the petition asking the Premier to “stay in his lane” and leave municipal matters such as bike lanes to municipal government.
