Hey Toronto friends,

Get out of the heat this weekend and join other bicycle enthusiasts
screening brilliant bike flicks on Saturday, and cycling en masse along
Bloor/Danforth on Sunday -- visualize the future TaketheTooker bicycle
expressway! (event details below)

Pick up your FREE TakeTheTooker bike flags this weekend or order your
limited edition silk-screened bike flag today <greenspi at web.ca>. They're
screened on canvass (red and blue ink) and hang off thin bamboo poles. One
side reads 'TaketheTooker.ca' (with graphic), the other side reads 'Bike
lanes on Bloor and Danforth'. Make a statement!

Take the Tooker's been taken'! Check out the new bike lane on Bloor
between Spadina and Bathurst. http://www.bikelanediary.blogspot.com/
It appears the builders did not employ the latest in straight-line
technology, but hey, who's complaining. It's even wide enough to ride side
by side with another cyclist. Imagine how lovely it would be to have such
a facility all the way from Mississauga to Scarborough along Bloor and
Danforth for the tens of thousands of cyclists that would ride that route
daily in safety.

Sat. June 9, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. (repeat screenings)

Take the Tooker Film Screening

Brunswick Theatre, 296 Brunswick Ave (just south of Bloor Street)

Thought provoking films featuring:

- Contested Streets -- from New York City, shows that the historical
pattern of car congestion in major metropoli can be overcome with
political will, time and resources. While the film starts off with a quick
overview of the New York car traffic issues, the film takes us to
Copenhagen, Paris and London - all of which have made very significant
strides in promoting public transit, cycling and walking instead of just
accepting the car congestion and dominance as a fact of life. (55 minutes)

- Cycling in Copenhagen -- What happens when a city truly puts cycling at
the head of its agenda by giving bike issues plenty of resources and
political will. (22 minutes)

- Easy Rollin' -- from Vancouver, is a film about a community of cycling
enthusiasts which finds funky ways to bring together their environmental
and artistic ideals to promote green transportation within our
car-congested society. (17 minutes)
