The Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise will be visiting Toronto on the Labour
Day weekend, September 1, 2 & 3. The ship will be docked at Harbourfront,
and you are invited to come aboard each day between 10am and 4pm.

At this year's Virgin Festival at Toronto Island Park on
Sept. 8 and 9, we'll be hosting a game of human chess that
mirrors the battle of global warming. One side will
represent the environmental violators that cause global
warming, while the other will signify actions and objects
that are trying to overcome global warming. The pieces are
as follows:

* Pawns -- Bikes Vs Hummers
* Rooks -- Recycling Vs Trash
* Bishops -- Trees Vs Factory/SmokeStacks
* Knights -- Scientists Vs Lobbyists
* King -- Oil Tower Vs Wind Turbine
* Queen --Coal (Think Black Version Fantastic Four character --Thing) Vs
Solar

We are looking to secure people who can play as chess
pieces and refs. Costumes will be provided. When you apply,
I'll email you the designs. Highlights of the chess games
will be played on the Virgin Festival jumbotron during set
changes each day and webcasted around the world. While this
two-day position is unpaid, it's a great chance to use your
bubbling personalities for a good cause, and maybe even to
get some great exposure.

We're also looking for people who'd like to help run our
Recycling Store, a store that only accepts used bottles and
cans as currency and sells things like skate decks, organic
clothing, computer and stereo equipment, and autographed
merchandise.

explanation regarding your qualifications and reasons for
wanting to participate in this opportunity. We're looking to
secure 30-40 people per day, so don't be afraid to tell your

Quebec police to speak about undercover operatives at Montebello
Public safety minister rejects call for public inquiry

Questions about undercover police officers accused of trying to incite
violence at peaceful demonstrations in Montebello are expected to be
addressed at a Quebec provincial police news conference on Friday
afternoon.

The police admitted Thursday afternoon that three masked men caught
on video Monday afternoon pushing toward a line of riot police, despite
protesters' efforts to stop them, were the force's officers.

The police admission came after several days of accusations from the
protesters and denials from police that the three men were agents trying
to provoke a confrontation between protesters and police.  <snip>
