Canada wins the Fossil of the Day awards at the UN climate
negotiations in Bangkok
First Place: Canada
The day's fossil award goes to Canada for blocking agreement on using
1990 as the base year. Canada is now the only country more focused on
finding creative ways to hide their emission increases and make their
weak targets look ambitious than solving the climate crisis.
Unfortunately, those emissions linger in the atmosphere much longer
than Canada's embarrassment about them.

5 Things the Corporate Media Don't Want You to Know About Cannabis
Recent scientific reports suggest that pot doesn't destroy your

350
On October 24th, local actions in more than 128 countries will be
held to highlight the number 350 – “as in parts per million, the
level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in
our atmosphere.” The 350 campaign is calling on people around the
world to organize an action on October 24 incorporating the number
350 at an iconic place in their community. Images from around the
world will be collected and delivered to the media and world leaders
to show how unified the global climate movement really is.

Seeking Billions, Ontario Sues Tobacco Companies
The Province of Ontario filed a lawsuit on Tuesday seeking 50 billion
Canadian dollars from several tobacco companies to recover smoking-
related health costs since 1955.
Ontario follows British Columbia and New Brunswick in attempts to
recover health care costs from tobacco companies. All three provinces
passed legislation enabling their legal actions, an approach that was
upheld by the Supreme Court of Canada in 2005.
Like plaintiffs in some lawsuits against tobacco companies in the
United States and elsewhere, Ontario is arguing that the tobacco
makers have known for decades that their products are addictive and
dangerous to health but have done little or nothing to mitigate their
effects and have been late to warn consumers.

Psychiatric Drug Side Effects
Psychiatric drugs including antidepressants, antipsychotics and
stimulants have serious, life threatening side effects and patient’s
are rarely warned about the full risks of these drugs. International
drug regulatory agencies including the U.S. FDA and Health Canada
warn that commonly prescribed psychiatric drugs can and do cause
worsening depression, mania, aggression, psychosis,
depersonalization, diabetes, hallucinations, suicidal and homicidal
thoughts, heart attack, stroke and sudden death. And what’s worse,
these are drugs commonly being prescribed to children and even infants.
