Climate Cover-up:
The Crusade to Deny Global Warming
TO. Book Launch
Wednesday, October 14
Ben McNally Books, 366 Bay Street
6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
rsvp at hoggan.com
The book, which Jim Hoggan wrote with Richard Littlemore, is a bold
critique of the unsavory PR campaign that has perverted the public
conversation about climate change. For two decades, when the world
should have been tackling the greatest environmental threat ever to
face humankind, we have been paralyzed by doubt and indecision.
That’s no accident. As Jim and Richard show in page after carefully
documented page, we’ve been stalling because some seedy and self-
interested people have worked extremely hard to convince us the
problem may not be real. Climate Cover-up rips the lid off that
disinformation campaign. It exposes early strategy documents in which
oil and coal companies – at times working with the tobacco industry –
describe how they plan to undermine the integrity of science.
Leveraging four years of work on Jim’s DeSmogBlog, Climate Cover-up
names names, analyzes tactics and illuminates strategies. It shows
how easily reporters and politicians have been bamboozled and how
badly the public has been deceived.
It’s time to end the Climate Cover-up.

LET'S GET TALKING: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TOOTHACHE & AN EAR
ACHE?
Arguments for Publicly Funded Dental Care
Wednesday, October 14, 2009, 5:30 - 7 p.m.
The Mustard Seed, 791 Queen Street East
Free admission, sandwiches and snacks
Anne-Marie Tynan, 416-864-6060 ext 2522, tynanma at smh.toronto.on.ca
Poor dental health has been linked to diabetes, heart disease and
other health problems. Have you ever wondered by dental visits aren't
covered under OHIP? Why people on welfare, the working poor, and even
some middle-income Ontarians have limited access to oral health
services? Why doesn't everyone have fair and equitable access to
preventive dental care regardless of what we earn, or who we work for?
In this community discussion, we will look at why dentistry was
excluded from Canadian Medicare, and the impacts of this decision on
our health. Public financing of dental care in Ontario would be good
public policy. Let's talk about why and what needs to be done.
With:
Carlos Quinonez, Assistant Professor, Director, Faculty of Public
Dentistry, U of T, Associate Researcher at the Centre for Research on
Inner City Health, St. Michael's Hospital
Paula Fletcher, Toronto City Counsellor, Ward 30, Toronto-Danforth
Sister Georgette Gregory, CSJ, Director of In Good Company, Fontbonne
Ministries, Sisters of St. Joseph, & Member of the Toronto Oral
Health Coalition
