Restorative Circles for Handling Conflict in Groups, Organizations,
Communities and Families

Join us for this interactive introduction to a nationally recognised
process.

Sat, Feb 20 and Sun, Feb 21, 2010
7th Floor, Peace Lounge, 252 Bloor St. W, Toronto, ON, Canada

Misunderstandings and conflict are an inevitable part of the diversity
of life. Yet few of us individually, let alone as a community, know
how to respond to conflict with behaviors that do not produce pain and
damage relationships. The Restorative Circle process offers ways for
individuals, families, groups/organizations, and communities to create
spaces for conflict that are safe and constructive, not destructive.
Restorative Circles does this by creating a forum through which
diverse peoples can dialogue with respect and understanding in order
to reach agreements that sustain effective and nurturing
relationships, both personally and within our larger society.

This workshop will present the systemic approach developed by Dominic
Barter which has been nationally recognized in Brazil for effective
innovation in both the areas of Justice and Education. Independent
research has found over 90% of conflicts using Restorative Circles
have been resolved to the satisfaction of those polled. It has been
adopted by diverse local communities from shanty town communities to
national court systems in an increasing number of countries and
cultures around the world.

To learn more please see: http://www.iirp.org/on08/ON08Papers/ON08_Barter.pdf
  http://www.iirp.org/realjustice/library/brazil.html

In this 2 day workshop you will be introduced to Restorative Circles
and have an opportunity to experience and practice its unique dialogue
process.
