On Monday, August 23rd hundreds of people will be converging in Toronto again, this time to appear to face outstanding charges from the G20 weekend. The crown is pursuing charges for over 300 individuals, causing huge burdens on the individuals and their families. They have given absurd bail conditions generally reserved for charges such as murder. Some remain imprisoned without bail.
We are united with the people brutalized at the G20 protests, and demand the Attorney General's Office DROP their charges immediately!

Stop Darlington: Ride For Renewables!
Tuesday, August 24th – ride from Pickering to Darlington nuclear reactors
Premier McGuinty wants to nuke Ontario’s green future. He wants to spend $26 billion to build new, dangerous and untested reactors at Darlington to replace the aging Pickering reactors, which are set to shut down in 2020.
Spending billions on new nuclear reactors will lock Ontario into a nuclear future and limit the growth of green energy. Premier McGuinty should instead use affordable green energy to replace Pickering.
On August 24th, please join us on the Ride for Renewables. Green energy advocates will ride from the Pickering nuclear station to Darlington to tell Premier McGuinty to go green – not nuclear.
Cyclists will gather at the windmill (Beachfront Park) at the Pickering nuclear station at 11am. We’ll then ride the waterfront trail to the Darlington nuclear station (approximately 45 km from Pickering).

Those who RSVP can meet at Greenpeace’s office at 9:30 am to take a bus to Pickering. The Go-Train can also get you to Pickering.

Not Just a Bag ‘o Tricks – SMORGASBORD

The popular educator Myles Horton said that education should percolate, not drip down. Popular education is a democratic practice of education rooted in social and economic justice struggle and intended to make social change. “Pop-ed” is sometimes thought of as simply a “bag of tricks” that promote conversation and reflection in a more “fun” way than conventional means – it’s not seen as being serious and purposeful. However, popular education (both the tools and the theory) is a radical means of analyzing power, oppression and resistance and collectively learning and acting in the context of community organizing.
From timelines, to energizers, to image theatre, to a political weather report, we will explore (and try out) a range of these tools and discuss how they can be used in different contexts. We will also talk a bit about facilitation and design and how they interact. Please come prepared to participate, to share your ideas, to listen and, hopefully, to have some fun.
