☢ Ontario energy conservation moving slowly, says environment commissioner <http://cleanairalliance.us5.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=9e0d2b5aacdacc8f6d679bba2&id=4e1bd9e2fa&e=01a7182789>  Jack Gibbons, who heads the Ontario Clean Air Alliance, said Ontario spends $36 on new energy supplies for every $1 it invests in conservation. “It’s totally unbalanced,” he said. Heavy spending on nuclear energy instead of conservation is the primary factor skewing the balance, Gibbons said

☢ Toronto Hydro plans for monster transformer station to import more nuclear <http://cleanairalliance.us5.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=9e0d2b5aacdacc8f6d679bba2&id=40697f6dd4&e=01a7182789>  Gibbons challenges the assumption that demand must continue to grow in the core, arguing that conservation programs could easily flatten the growth in demand.  Toronto consumes 56% more electricity per person than New York City, for example. Current provincial programs don’t do enough to encourage conservation.
