☢ Toronto Hydro's proposed Bremner Transformer Station <http://cleanairalliance.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9e0d2b5aacdacc8f6d679bba2&id=dc5fb343d9&e=45743fde61>  (downtown Toronto) would cost $272 mill. to build and  raise rates by $25 million per year or 4%.  Much lower cost options to keep the lights on in Toronto are available including conservation, CHP and solar; these would also provide better security of supply for downtown residents/businesses. Using the existing transmission lines between Ontario and Quebec, water power imports could provide us with 17 per cent of our electricity needs at less than one-third the cost of re-building the aging Darlington Nuclear Station.
