Lockouts Are Scary! Rally
Wednesday Oct. 30, 4:30pm
Ryerson Students' Union, 55 Gould Street
Halloween is approaching and CUPE 1281 workers at CESAR will have been locked out by their employer (the CESAR Executive) for almost a month by that time. The CESAR Executive has a horrific anti-union and anti-worker bent. It is their intention to try and scare and slash the union by locking it out. A lockout is what occurs when an employer refuses to negotiate a contract and essentially kicks workers out of their jobs. The CESAR Executive is bullying their workers but those workers are standing up for themselves like the vampire slayers that they are. Stand with them on October 30th and join us at the rally. Say no to the lockout! There will be speakers, music and food. As you can hopefully tell we are going for a Halloween theme here so feel free to come dressed up in a costume. Say "Boo!" to the lockout. Note that though this has a 4:30 start please come at any time if you can't make it that early.

Dance offers us an opportunity to “speak” to the unspeakable, to express that which is too much for us to handle with mere words. In dance we can play with and release our overwhelm, so that we might grow into our next best futures.

An investigative and powerfully emotional documentary about the epidemic of rape of soldiers within the US military, the institutions that perpetuate and cover up its existence, and its profound personal and social consequences. Features interviews with veterans who recount the events surrounding their assaults. Their stories show many common themes, such as the lack of recourse to an impartial justice system, reprisals against survivors instead of against perpetrators, the absence of adequate emotional and physical care for survivors, the unhindered advancement of perpetrators' careers, and the forced expulsion of survivors from service.
