Bring Back the War on the Car
Toronto needs warriors to fight for cyclists, pedestrians, and the life of the city. In 2011, cars in T.O. managed to kill about 20 pedestrians and cyclistts. Last year, they killed twice as many. Altogether, there were more traffic fatalities than homicides in Toronto last year. And so far, there isn’t a single mayoral candidate who appears to have a problem with that.

Climate Panel Stunner: Avoiding Climate Catastrophe Is Super Cheap — But Only If We Act Now
Humanity’s choice (via IPCC): Aggressive climate action ASAP (left figure) minimizes future warming. Continued inaction (right figure) results in catastrophic levels of warming, 9°F over much of U.S. The latest IPCC report finds the annual cost of avoiding that catastrophe is a mere 0.06% of annual growth.

The Death of Democracy in Canada. The Death of James Michael Flaherty
Let us not confuse respect for the dead with blindness to history... Flaherty was a major mainstay of the move by the present Conservative government, led by Stephen Harper, to build a permanent, unreplaceable, fascist government in Canada.

Liberation Seder
Tuesday, April 15, 7 - 10 p.m.
Beit Zatoun, 612 Markham (Bloor and Bathurst)

A Passover Seder is dedicated to a free Palestine and the liberation of all peoples. As Jews committed to current liberation struggles, we enact this ritual to honour our history of resilience and participation in diverse movements for human emancipation across time. The ritual of the Seder gives us an opportunity to contend not only with legacies of oppression but also with current suffering that we survive, that we perpetrate and in which we are complicit. All invited, religion is not a barrier to liberation struggles.
