☢ It’s official: Coal is kaput in Ontario <http://cleanairalliance.us5.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=9e0d2b5aacdacc8f6d679bba2&id=150714cd85&e=45743fde61>  On April 8th, the Thunder Bay Generating Station burned its last lump of coal marking the end of an era in Ontario. Ontario has successfully eliminated the province’s single biggest source of smog, toxins, acid rain and greenhouse gases. Ontario’s coal phase out is a remarkable achievement and a tremendous example to the world.

☢ Benchmarking <http://cleanairalliance.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9e0d2b5aacdacc8f6d679bba2&id=2cb73c3a23&e=45743fde61>  AMPCO’s latest benchmarking analysis shows that Ontario has the highest industrial electricity rates in North America. This is consistent with OCAA’s analysis <http://cleanairalliance.us5.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=9e0d2b5aacdacc8f6d679bba2&id=50c07776b5&e=45743fde61>  showing that as nuclear generation has increased, electricity costs have increased at the same rate. As well, our electricity prices are dramatically higher than those of Manitoba and Quebec where they get virtually all of their power from water.

☢ Ontarians strongly support making a deal with Quebec <http://cleanairalliance.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9e0d2b5aacdacc8f6d679bba2&id=712214fee3&e=45743fde61>  The poll found that close to 80% of Ontarians are in favour of tapping into Quebec power imports. In fact, a large majority would prefer to import water power rather than re-build the Darlington Nuclear Station.

☢ Planned nuclear waste facility in Kincardine ON raises fears for Great Lakes <http://cleanairalliance.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9e0d2b5aacdacc8f6d679bba2&id=13adaffbac&e=45743fde61>  Some materials that would be stored in a proposed underground nuclear waste facility less than a mile from Lake Huron are hundreds of times more radioactive than was told to Canadian government officials considering the site.
