Climatefast in Ottawa - Please write your MP
- We are fasting this year from September 28 to October 2nd. We will hold a vigil on Parliament Hill from 9 am - 5 pm each day.
- Our key action ask is for people to write letters to their MPs. The three asks of Climate Fast are 1) end fossil fuel subsidies 2) put a price on carbon and 3) develop a renewable energy plan for Canada. Three simple and essential steps. Please also ask for the party leaders to sign. A sample letter is on our website.
- Our main goal is to inspire other Canadians to take action.We are hoping that people across the country will join us in a day of fasting on October 1st in solidarity with an international fast called "Fast for the Climate" (http://fastfortheclimate.org/en/). This fast takes place on the first day of every month to ask for climate action around the world. You can do this one-day fast from your own home - just let us know if you would like to join!

These are the oil, gas and coal deposits that have been identified by energy companies, given a book value that is reflected in corporate share values, and yet, can never be sold or used if the world is to avoid catastrophic climate disruption. The presentation will show what the implications of this are globally, nationally and personally. Some ideas for what our government might do to prepare for this serious pending economic adjustment are discussed. All welcome.

Join author Lesley J. Wood for the Toronto launch of Crisis and Control. This book explains how neoliberal shifts in political and economic systems are militarizing the policing of protest. The book offers a way to understand the influence of political processes on police practices and provides an empirical study of militarized protest policing from 1995 until the present. Lesley J. Wood shows how protest policing techniques have become more militarised and more dependent on intelligence gathering over the past fifteen years partly as a result of the neoliberal restructuring political, economic and social processes.
