We're talking about 280,000 tonnes of highly contaminated water contained in over 1500 tanks with an average capacity of almost 200 tonnes each. Evaporation will not remove the tritium, which is chemically identical to hydrogen except that it is radioactive. Thus the water vapour (H2O) will itself be radioactive, carrying the tritium into the atmosphere as radioactive water molecules, and that tritium will come back down to earth as rain or condensation which will enter freely into the tissues of all living things.

Ontario has hired SNC-Lavalin to rebuild our 4 aging Darlington nuclear reactors. Bad idea.

The new act was designed so Canada could join an international convention called the Convention on Supplementary Compensation, which was designed to shield international reactor suppliers from liability. This blog from Greenpeace India  discusses why civil society in India has opposed this convention, because it legalizes a nuclear Bhopal where foreign companies could just walk away in the event of an accident. The same is true for Canada.
