Make Toronto a nuke-free zone
By Angela Bischoff, NOW magazine
Nuclear fallout zone: more people live within 30 kilometres of the Pickering plant than live near any other nuclear facility in North America.
https://nowtoronto.com/news/make-toronto-a-nuke-free-zone/

Can you spare a few hours to help leaflet blitz Scarborough Rouge River riding? We’re hoping to make the shuttering of Pickering a by-election issue.

TransCanada Files NAFTA Suit Demanding More Than $15 Billion for Keystone XL Rejection
On June 24, foreign oil company TransCanada filed a lawsuit against the United States under NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, arguing that the U.S. rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline violated NAFTA's broad rights for foreign investors by thwarting the company's "expectations." As compensation, TransCanada is demanding more than $15 billion from U.S. taxpayers.

OHIP for All
Tuesday, June 28, 12 - 1 p.m.
Ministry of Health, 900 Bay Street
Over 200,000 people in Ontario are denied health coverage due to their immigration status. Many children, adults and seniors have been denied care in emergency rooms, have been asked for thousands of dollars upfront for healthcare, have received massive bills or have foregone healthcare altogether when they needed it. People have died as a result of our system in Ontario that denies care to people who need it. We can stop unnecessary and high cost health complications. We can stop denying sick people care. We can create the society we all want to live in by providing healthcare for all people living in Ontario, regardless their of immigration status

BREXIT: What Happened?
Monday, July 4, 7 pm
United Steelworkers hall, 25 Cecil St
The result of the EU referendum in the UK is sending shock waves throughout the world. The institutions of capitalism are in crisis and for the 1% the threat of “contagion” is terrifying. For the left the result can offer openings for a more radical perspective on global capitalism but there is also the danger of the far-right using the crisis to grow and to spread more hate and xenophobia. Join us for a public forum and discussion abut the referendum and its implications in Canada and abroad. mHosted by the International Socialists
