The workshop explores the language of social justice, and looks at models for creating more equitable communities. The workshop examines concepts of intersectionality, positionality, privilege and oppression the Canadian cultural, political and historical contexts. participants will explore internalized, interpersonal and institutional oppression and explore their role/identities in relation to others. We are is in the midst of the worst overdose crisis in our history. Thousands of people have died preventable deaths. Rather than take meaningful actions to prevent these needless deaths and further harm to people who use drugs, our government has instead pushed forward with its war on drugs, other harmful drug policies and a tentative approach to this crisis. We will not let this continue to happen. Actions are being led in 8 cities: Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, Nanaimo, Ottawa. With continuing interest for actions in other cities. We are co-oridinating these actions in solidarity with each other. Please bring flowers, photos of your loved ones, candles, signs and banners. Cancer Train: Punjab’s water and cancer crisis

The people of Punjab are suffering from worst water crisis of humanity. The discussion includes a real-life story of cancer patients who are travelling on Cancer Train to the land of Hope “Bikaner” for their treatment. Cancer incidence is so high in Punjab, especially in the cotton belt of Malwa region, that in the door-to-door survey conducted last year and early this year, 33,318 deaths were reported in the past 5 years with 23, 874 found to be suffering from the deadly disease and another 84,500 having symptoms of Cancer.
Please join us for the panel discussion and showing of “Riding on Hope”. A documentary made by Spiral Earth Productions Ltd. & Planet One Foundation, exposes the plight of cancer patients from these areas forced to move out to seek medical assistance.

Curious about how the Canadian government supports corporate interests both domestically and internationally? Now's your chance to learn more! Join the Mining Injustice Solidarity Network (MISN) for a panel discussion that dissects the “Belly of the Beast”: Toronto’s financial district and the reach of its tentacles throughout the global mining industry. Panelists will flesh out the various tentacles of "the beast" and the web of its influence, including: corporate interests, the Toronto Stock Exchange, narratives of development and social responsibility, government (both local and international), the media, and the academy. They will demonstrate how these sectors work together to feed wealth into the beast's belly, which is both controlled by and sustains big money and corporate power. This event will focus especially on the upcoming Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention and how all of these different players convene, make deals, and get energized at this annual gathering. We will also be joined by special guests who will ensure that those who are displaced and negatively affected by this beast, who prioritizes profit over people, are ever-present in our minds and hearts throughout the evening.

He crafts a radical narration about race in America, using Baldwin's original words. He draws upon the author’s notes about the lives and assassinations of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. to explore and bring a fresh perspective to the current racial fabric in America. He analyzes the country's obsession with skin color and examines what it means to be Black in the U.S.A. by mixing rich archival footage of the Civil Rights and Black Power movements with recent recordings of young African-American men who’ve been killed, including Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice and Mike Brown.

3) Support Private Member’s Bill S-231 which would create a press shield law and strengthen protection for advocates, whistleblowers and journalists.
