Environmental lawyer James Thornton says China’s ‘ecological civilisation’
concept is the best response to the world’s environmental crisis
First there was the agricultural revolution. Then the industrial revolution.
And now we're moving into the ecological revolution.

Birthright: a War Story
Tuesday October 3, 7:30 pm
Steelworkers Hall, 25 Cecil St
Birthright: a War Story is a feature length documentary showing how people
are being jailed, physically violated and even put in danger of dying as a
radical, right wing movement tightens its grip on the United States. There
is an aggressive campaign to take control of reproductive health care and to
allow states, courts and religious doctrine to govern when and how we will
bear children. This is a real life "handmaid's tale". Everyone who supports
reproductive justice for all should see this film at its first Canadian
showing.

Rally for a Weapons-free York University
Wednesday, October 4, 2 pm
YU Divest, 4700 Keele Street
Our scholarships and bursaries are funded by York's investments in weapons
companies. Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Textron Inc., and
Amphenol: these corporations all sell arms and military technology to
governments accused of war crimes around the world. York should no longer be
complicit in unjust wars, harming and displacing its community members and
their families. As one of the most diverse campuses in Canada, York
students, faculty, alumni and staff are disproportionately impacted by wars
fuelled by the arms trade and the growing refugee crisis. It's time for our
university to live up to its own stated commitment to social justice by
divesting from these companies. Join us in demanding a weapons-free York.
