There’s a better way to balance Ontario’s budget

Our new factsheet compares the government’s cuts to what it could save by making a deal with Quebec for low-cost water power. We calculate that by using low-cost Quebec water power instead of spending billions rebuilding old nuclear plants, the government could save up to $3.7 billion per year. That’s a lot of daycare spaces secured, school roofs fixed and art programs saved.

We're leafletting every mailbox in Doug Ford's riding with this leaflet: http://www.cleanairalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/cutmybill.pdf

Can you spare a few hours to help? We meet at a subway station, take the bus up into the riding together, leaflet for 2 hours, then meet again for food/drink (on me). If you can do a shift, please email me and I'll send you the schedule. Thanks! angela at cleanairalliance.org

Jason Kenney: ‘Emissions Be Damned’

Premier-designate Jason Kenney torqued up his recent Alberta election win by triumphantly arriving at a Calgary Stampede site stage with the help of almost 400 horses corralled under the hood of his eight-cylinder Dodge Ram campaign truck. It was painted Party blue. His UCP crowd went wild, and began chanting “Build that pipe! Build that pipe!” An analysis by Paul McKay.

The conservative People’s Party, which shredded the country’s renewable energy industry during eight years in power, suffered a huge defeat. Its seat count fell from 137 to 66.

Without consulting stakeholders, the Ontario government cut LAO funding by 30% generally and has cut 100% of its funding to immigration and refugee services.
