Small Nuclear Reactors are a Dirty, Dangerous Distraction and Delay Real Climate Action

More than 25 public interest groups from across Canada recently critized the federal government for funding small nuclear reactor development, challenging the government to release the research and data that support its strategy.

U.S. corporations profiting from major Canadian nuclear liability

The nearly 70-year history of the federal crown corporation Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) has left a $16 billion toxic legacy of shuttered reactors, polluted lakes and groundwater, contaminated soils, and hundreds of thousands of cubic metres of radioactive waste. If the Liberal government caves into industry pressure to fund the building of new SMNRs (small modular nuclear reactors)  -- instead of dealing responsibly with its existing waste liability -- AECL's $16 billion radioactive burden on Canadian taxpayers -- and risks to workers and the public -- will just keep growing.

2040 - doc film

Free to watch online thru Nov. 8

What would our future be by 2040 if we embraced the best solutions already available to us and took them rapidly into the mainstream? This journey is the central premise for the documentary ‘2040’, a story of hope that looks at the very real possibility that humanity could reverse global warming and improve the lives of every living thing in the process. It is a positive vision of what ‘could be’, instead of the dystopian future we are so often presented. We can regenerate the world for future generations.

Decolonizing the Heart Workshops

Day 1: Nov 7 and 14

Day 2: Nov 28 and Dec 5

All dates 9:30 am - 1:30 pm.

In this time of profound change as we face up to racism and colonization, it’s important to have the critical tools needed to be part of the solution. Our aim is to provide participants with, among other things: the skills they need to de-escalate conflict; call people in rather than out; how to have difficult conversations; how to turn discomfort into learning moments for all.
