☢ Fossil and nuclear energy regimes threaten global security The Ukraine catastrophe should be enough to halt nuclear expansion in its tracks. Trading one existential threat (fossil fuel dependency) for another (an even wider network of nuclear targets) is a callous, willful betrayal of the public trust by those politicians enabling it.

Renewables and Conservation

☼ Energy efficiency guru Amory Lovins: ‘It’s the largest, cheapest, safest, cleanest way to address the crisis’ Lovins is arguing for the mass insulation of buildings alongside a vast acceleration of renewables. “We should crank [them] up with wartime urgency." The most energy-inefficient design of all, he says, is nuclear power, which is heavily subsidized, costly and pushed by a politically powerful lobby.

☼ No more fuel on the fire A Fossil Fuel Treaty can take the heat out of war and build the grounds for peace. “Let's dash into renewable energy at lightning speed."

☼ The Case for Induction Cooking For all the sexiness of cooking with gas (a concept bolstered by aggressive lobbying and advertising from the fossil gas industry), it has been shown to be catastrophic for the environment, emitting potent GHGs like methane into the atmosphere. Worse, a recent study demonstrated that 75% of these emissions occur when the stove is off.

☢ Radioactive waste is forever Tell the Feds to treat it that way. The public comment period is open until April 2, 2022.

☢ Say no to new nuclear in the GTA Tell Ontario's political leaders that you want investments in wind and solar energy, not a new GTA nuclear reactor.

☢ Stop the Disposal of Nuclear Waste in NW Ontario High-level nuclear waste should be managed using a "rolling stewardship" concept, rather than abandoning it in a deep geological repository. Learn more. Make a donation to help local organizers educate their neighbours.
