Canada is proposing a wide range of actions to address the climate crisis, including supporting the expansion of nuclear infrastructure in the form of small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs). In New Brunswick, the SMRs propose to extract plutonium from used nuclear fuel, raising weapons proliferation concerns in addition to the well-known environmental impacts of nuclear power.
