Alberta First! Province Wins Fossil of the Day Award at UN Climate Conference
Since 1999, civil society groups attending the annual United Nations climate conference have issued the daily fossil award to the country or negotiating bloc that has done the most to obstruct meaningful progress on emission reductions and climate adaptation. Alberta won the dishonour because they came to COP with one mission, to sabotage the negotiations.

Earth on verge of five catastrophic climate tipping points, scientists warn
Humanity faces ‘devastating domino effects’ including mass displacement and financial ruin as planet warms. The tipping points at risk include the collapse of big ice sheets in Greenland and the West Antarctic, the widespread thawing of permafrost, the death of coral reefs in warm waters, and the collapse of one oceanic current in the North Atlantic.

Here's why food waste is a major climate change issue
Food loss and waste releases methane, a gas 80 times more potent to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. A third of all food produced for human consumption becomes lost from waste, and it contributes eight to 10 per cent of climate-impacting greenhouse gases.

Why was John Lennon in bed with a bicycle?
Tues. Dec. 12, 11 a.m. ET
Why was John Lennon in bed with a bicycle? On an iconic picture from 1969 we see John Lennon and Yoko Ono in bed with a white, Dutch bicycle. Were they in bed because they taught that the bicycle could solve congestion? Or bring us faster from A to B? Or was there something more powerful connected to this humble machine? In this presentation we find out the answer and understand why understanding it is so important for our current challenges. With: Marco te Brömmelstroet. Academic director of Lab of Thought & Board Member of Urban Cycling Institute.
