This talk discusses how the far-right Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) adapted anti-Muslim discourse to their political purposes and how that discourse was then appropriated by the conservative center-right Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) to explain the anti-Muslim swerve in Austrian politics, preparing the way for a right-wing coalition government between conservatives and far-right actors that would subsequently institutionalize anti-Muslim political demands and change the shape of the civic conditions and public perceptions of Islam and the Muslim community in a country that had has stood out for its longstanding state recognition of the Muslim community as early as 1912.

What is a Land Sharing Network?

Land Sharing is an organized way for settler land-holders to uphold their treaty obligations, or make right in territory without treaty, by supporting Indigenous people to have access to the land the settlers hold as colonial private property. Land Sharing Activities include hunting, fishing, food and medicine gathering, ceremony, cultural practices and culture camps. Land Holders sharing land include farmers, ranchers and faith groups (eg. that own camps), and more. In BC, beach front landholders could be added so that Indigenous people could have land access through “private property” to beaches for shellfish harvesting and land holders with cedar trees could provide access for cedar stripping.

RICHLAND offers a prismatic, placemaking portrait of a community staking its identity and future on its nuclear origin story, presenting a timely examination of the habits of thought that normalize the extraordinary violence of the past. Pathways to Sustainability for Buildings: Thermal Networks
