The Future of Toronto's Island Airport - Survey
A decision will soon be made to extend (or not) the lease and the Tripartite Agreement between the Toronto, provincial and federal governments for another 50 years beyond its current end in 2033. The runways will have to be extended into the lake by 2027 costing upwards of $130 million. What do you think about maintaining the Island Airport for the next 60 years rather than other potential uses for this very valuable land (ie. parkland)? Please take the survey.

Online and in-person at Isabel Bader Theatre, 93 Charles Street West, Toronto
When we think of electrification in the modern age, our minds immediately go to electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, and even centralized heating. Energy for People Not Profit - Stop Bill 165
Wed. April 10, 7 - 8:30 p.m. ET
Enbridge customers can expect to pay an additional $120 per year on their energy bill. This is because the Ford Government has sided with Enbridge Gas, subjecting ratepayers to foot the bill for new pipelines to new homes. The Ontario Energy Board (OEB), an independent authority that works to keep energy costs down, decided it is the developers who should pay for new pipelines to new homes - not Ontarians. This decision panicked Enbridge and they complained to the Ontario government. Premier Ford, instead of prioritizing affordability for Ontarians, has once again sided with big business and sprawl developers by presenting Bill 165 which aims to overrule the OEB’s attempt to protect Ontarians from subsidizing Enbridge’s projects. Join Environmental Defence, Ontario Climate Emergency Campaign, Seniors for Climate Action Now, Hamilton 350, and Climate Fast to discuss the details and impacts of Bill 165 and how you can join the movement trying to keep energy bills from rising.

Nuclear exploitation: how uranium mining harms communities
Thur. Apr. 11, 1:30 p.m. ET
To produce nuclear power, uranium has to be mined. But this activity proves devastating for the communities – very often of Indigenous people – working in and living near the mines. As well as immediate and ongoing harms, contamination from uranium mining activity persists for tens of thousands of years, leaving a dangerous legacy for current and future generations. Join CND and Beyond Nuclear for this webinar to discuss how uranium mining for nuclear power production affects communities far away from where the power is consumed.

Thur. Apr. 11, 11 a.m. ET
In this webinar, panelists look at how journalists — who are usually tasked with covering things that are happening currently or have just happened — can get ahead of climate disinformation and “pre-bunk” it in a way that doesn't amplify the disinfo or cause unnecessary alarm. In this one-hour press briefing by Covering Climate Now and Climate Action Against Disinformation, a panelist of experts will discuss how to help the public feel prepared and capable of handling what most experts predict will be an onslaught of climate disinformation in this historic election year.

Agroecology: Scaling up Sustainable Farming in a Planet in Polycrisis
Thursday, April 11, 11:30 a.m. ET
Agroecology seeks to emulate nature in agro-ecosystems. It works in concert with natural flows and cycles and embraces diversity. It has been shown to enhance food production in small scale farming systems with low inputs and in the midst of climatic variability. But what does agroecology look like when scaled up to encompass diversified large crop fields and pastures? What does it look like when practiced in drier places? Does it imply or require larger social and economic shifts? Join us as we delve into how to think of agroecology on a larger scale.
