Operation Go Home is currently looking for a Permanent, Full-Time Youth
Worker for our Drop-In.  The successful candidate will be a self-starter,
outgoing, organized, and has experience working with at-risk youth.
Bilingual (English/French) candidates strongly preferred.  The hours for
this position are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. This
position earns $13.00 per hour as well as generous benefits
(medical/dental). Consider being part of our dynamic and energetic team that

The following is the full job description:

 

Youth Worker - Drop-in

Operation Go Home

 

Reporting directly to the Manager of Youth Services, Drop-In, the Youth
Worker is mandated to oversee the Drop-In, Client Welfare, and all aspects
thereof.

 

Specific

-         Maintain an accurate record of usage of the drop-in

-         Coordinate all aspects of the Breakfast Program, including
communication with Food Bank, soliciting and picking up donations from local
businesses, ensuring cleanliness of the kitchen, and other responsibilities
as needed within these parameters

-         Coordinate the Clothing Cupboard, including database of users, and
arrange pick-up from donors

-         Interact with clients on a regular basis

-         Advocate for and support youth in crisis, including referrals

-         Coordinate youth activities

-         Basic supervision of drop-in volunteers and co-op students

-         Supervision of the overall maintenance and cleanup of the drop-in
after closing

-         Participate in the Street Team Outreach Program (daytime outreach)

-         Participate in coordination of youth events - Christmas Party,
etc. 

-         Develop contacts and networks for youth within job parameters

-         Provide suicide intervention if needed within job parameters

-         Provide short-term interventions as needed with youth and/or
parents 

-         Offer referrals to other agencies (i.e. housing, education,
employment, counseling)

 

General Office

-         Provide input for the updating of office manuals, policies and
procedures

-         As part of the OGH team, promote support for Operation Go Home in
the community, including with other service providers, media, etc.

-         Provide short-term interventions as needed with youth and/or
parents

-         Offer referrals to other agencies (i.e. housing, education,
employment, and counseling)

-         Participate in implementing the reunite program - as per OGH
policies 

-         Respond to incoming calls from youth, parents, volunteers and
public

-         Develop contacts and networks for youth within job parameters
