Media Release

Lanark County, Ontario, April 2007 – “Under one Virtual Roof” a project of
intervention for homeless youth in Lanark County has been funded by the
Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to the tune of $249 000.00 over the next
three years.

The OTF awarded this province-wide grant to Open Doors for Lanark Children
and Youth on behalf of the Transitions Action Coalition (Transitions) a
group representing a number of service providers across Lanark County whose
main focus is youth homelessness.

The OTF will fund the hiring of a Transitions Project Coordinator to oversee
the implementation of the “Under One Virtual Roof” model of intervention.

“Under One Virtual Roof” will take into consideration the demographical and
geographical uniqueness of Lanark County and will provide housing, supports
and programming in a pragmatic way to homeless youth and youth at risk of
becoming homeless.

Transitions will also be working in partnership with the Sudbury Action
Centre, Sudbury, Ontario and the Chatham Teen Centre Salvation Army
Community and Family Services, Chatham, Ontario to coordinate the project in
all three areas of the province.

Transitions has been working diligently, on limited funding and staffing,
since 2002 to address the complex needs of homeless youth and now thanks to
the OTF funds can provide practical assistance to these youth.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation, one of Canada’s leading grant-making
foundations, is an agency of the Ministry of Culture and distributes $100
million of government funding each year generated through Ontario’s charity
casino initiative. The foundation allocates grants to eligible charitable
and not-for-profit organizations in the arts and culture, environment, human
and social services and sports and recreation sectors. For more
