Position Posting
Director, Research and Policy
To fulfill our mission of building a strong, healthy, safe community for
all, United Way/Centraide Ottawa invests resources in programs, projects and
partnerships that make a difference in six Impact Areas: Promoting healthy
development for children and youth; Reducing isolation and enhancing
seniors quality of life; Reducing barriers and increasing participation for
people with disabilities; Strengthening individuals and families in times of
need and crisis; Reducing barriers and increasing engagement for immigrants;
Strengthening agency, neighbourhood and community capacity.
The Director, Research and Policy undertakes research projects on behalf of
United Way/ Centraide in the area of policy development, and the analysis
of demographic, economic, donor, social and funding trends. The Director
will work closely with the Impact and Investment Directors and the Director
of Evaluation and Monitoring. The director is responsible for developing an
annual research plan, incorporating research requests from the Community
Services Cabinet, Impact Councils, the Community Services department and
other areas within the organization.
Qualifications:
* University degree and work experience with an emphasis on research
and analysis
* Minimum of five years experience in social/policy issues;
knowledge of the Ottawa community
* Demonstrated research and superior analytical skills
* Proven organizational skills
* Relationship management skills
* Ability to work independently
* Knowledge of information sources available for research
* Strong attention to detail
* Excellent writing and communication skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel. Access considered an asset.
* Bilingualism is an asset
