Notice of Public Open Houses and Discussion Groups 

Downtown Transit and Network Implications

The City of Ottawa is beginning the second phase of the 2003 Transportation
Master Plan Update (TMP), which identifies and addresses the transportation
needs of our growing population and employment to the year 2031.  This phase
involves exploring the various downtown transit options and their
implications on the overall transit network. 

As part of this review, the City will be hosting four Open Houses and
Discussion Group sessions across Ottawa from Monday, March 3 to Thursday,
March 6.  The Open Houses will run from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. At each event
there will be a Discussion Group session starting at 7 p.m.  These
Discussion Groups will allow citizens to actively participate in determining
which downtown transit option best reflects Ottawa’s needs to 2031. 

Those interested in participating in one of the Discussion Group sessions,

What is Being Proposed?

The City of Ottawa is updating its 2003 Transportation Master Plan (TMP),
which is a key planning document that explains the need for future transit
facilities, roads, pathways and other transportation infrastructure,
including where and when they will be built.  The TMP update will address
the transportation needs of Ottawa’s growing population and employment to
the year 2031 and beyond. 

This set of Open Houses and discussion groups will focus on Ottawa’s
Downtown Transit Options and Network Implications and is being carried out
in accordance with the requirements  for Phases I and II of the Municipal
Class Environmental Assessment process.  This includes the identification of
problems and opportunities and the selection of the preferred solutions.

Avis de réunions portes ouvertes 

Options de transport en commun dans le centre-ville et répercussions sur le
réseau 

La Ville d’Ottawa a entrepris la seconde phase de la Mise à jour du Plan
directeur des transports (PDT) 2003, qui vise à cerner et combler les
besoins en transport associés à la croissance de notre population et des
emplois jusqu’en 2031.Dans le cadre de cette phase, on se penchera sur les
diverses options de transport en commun dans le centre-ville ainsi que sur
leurs répercussions sur l’ensemble du réseau de transport. 

Dans le contexte de cette étude, la Ville tiendra quatre réunions portes
ouvertes et séances de groupe de discussion à Ottawa du lundi 3 mars au
jeudi 6 mars. Les réunions portes ouvertes se dérouleront de 18 h à 20 h 30.
Chaque événement comportera une séance du groupe de discussion qui débutera
à 19 h. Ces séances des groupes de discussion permettront aux citoyens
d’aider à déterminer laquelle des options de transport en commun dans le
centre-ville permet de répondre le mieux aux besoins à Ottawa jusqu’en 2031.

La préinscription est obligatoire pour ceux et celles qui souhaitent
participer à l’une des séances de groupe de discussion exposées ci-dessous.

Que propose-t-on ?

Cette série de réunions portes ouvertes et de groupes de discussion mettra
l’accent sur les Options de transport en commun dans le centre-ville et les
répercussions sur le réseau à Ottawa et cherchera à satisfaire aux exigences
des phases I et II du processus d’évaluation environnementale municipale de
portée générale.  Pour ce faire, il faudra, entre autres, cerner les
problèmes et les possibilités, en plus de choisir les solutions
privilégiées.
