According to the McGuinty Liberals, some of Ontario's children deserve
to have adequate food, clothing and shelter, and others don't.

That is the clear message Children's Minister Deb Matthews and the
McGuinty Liberals are sending by providing the full Ontario Child
Benefit to some children - those with an employed parent - while
penalizing children whose parents are not employed by cutting clothing
allowances and reducing already sub-poverty assistance rates.

Do children really deserve to suffer because their parents aren't
employed because they are taking care of their children?

It's easy for Matthews to say that the "amounts are small" and "just"
195,000 children are "affected."

I wonder whether she would have a different perspective if it was her
son or daughter who would have to go without a winter coat this year?
Perhaps then she and her government would agree to immediately
implement the full Child Benefit without cuts and clawbacks, as the
NDP and community groups urged.
