POSITION TITLE:               Night Residential Worker (1 position
available)


DATE OF POSTING:          Friday May 2nd, 2008

POSITION TYPE:

·     Permanent

·     Unionized position

·     Full time position (starting date to be determined) 

·     70 hours per 2 weeks

·     four 10 hour shifts, alternating with three 10 hour shifts

 

 

LOCATION: Grove Avenue Group Home 

 

 


SUMMARY:


·           SUMMARYTo be responsible for covering the overnight shifts in
the Grove Street Group Home and ensuring that clients are provided with
supportive counseling and crisis intervention, as required.  Assist clients
with meal preparation and other basic life skills.

 

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS:

 

*     Bachelor=s Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences or Community College
Social Service Program

*     Minimum of one year experience working with adults recovering from
psychiatric illness.

*     Minimum of one year experience working in a residential setting.

 

DUTIES SUMMARY:

*     Provide supportive counseling and/or crisis intervention to
clients/tenants       whenever necessary.

*     Some teaching of life skills e.g., cleaning, cooking, personal hygiene
etc. may be necessary.

*     Be knowledgeable and up-to-date on all policies and procedures
pertaining to emergency and crisis situations.

*     Carry out on-call duties as required.

*     Document as needed in log book, client files, incident reports, etc.

KNOWLEDGE:

$            Demonstrates specific knowledge of health issues and of social
problems associated with psychiatric disabilities and the impact of mental
Illness on functional capacity

$            Demonstrates knowledge about natural sleep cycles, impact of
caffeine, exercise etc on sleep patterns

$            Demonstrates understanding of:

$            Crisis intervention and prevention

$            Suicide prevention and intervention

 

SKILLS:

$             Ability to establish supportive relationship

$             Establish a supportive and respectful living environment

$             Ability to teach techniques to establish good sleep habits

$             Ability to set firm, reasonable limits 

 

Salary: $15,91 to $18.05 hourly

 

Language Requirement: 

Bilingualism (French/English) is essential for 50% of the positions.  

 

 

 Other duties may be assigned by the Manager, as needed.
