I’m writing to inform you that the "World Changers" organization will be in
Ottawa from July 12th to 19th, and is looking for good projects they can
apply their volunteer work teams to during the week.  They are bringing 200
students and adults and will have 20 crews of 10 students and adults to work
throughout the Ottawa area.  They will have about 5 to 7 work teams of 10
students and adults available for housing or shelter related projects.  

They were in Ottawa last year.  Some examples of work they have completed in
the past are; roofing, sheetrock, vinyl siding, decks, handicapped ramps,
painting, landscaping, tile work, and brick and concrete work.

 Lodging, transportation, lunches and training have been provided for.
Agencies wishing to tap into this great resource would be responsible for
the materials and supplies necessary to complete the work that they agree to
do on a particular site.

The sites, materials, scope of work, timetable for completion, and the
personnel needed to complete the work during the week is negotiated and
agreed upon between World Changers and the agency representative, and put
into writing for all concerned.  

 I have agreed to act as an initial contact to see if there is any interest
among our network of housing and service providers.  If you are, please let
Melissa Armstrong know by email no later than May 16th.
(Melissa.Armstrong at ottawa.ca). Include a basic description of the work you
want to do, and we will package it and provide to the project coordinator.
They will then get in touch directly with each organization to follow up and
select the projects they think they can most effectively assist with.

"World Changers has worked on thousands of homes and properties since 1990
and we are looking forward to working with you and your partner agencies in
Ottawa again this summer. They will be returning next year, July 11th - 18th
2009."
