Community Conversations
hosted by
The Ottawa Chamber of Voluntary Organizations
How will the voluntary sector respond to the world-wide economic storm?
Economic systems around the world are undergoing unprecedented upheavals
that will be felt in the day to day existence of individuals and
organizations in our community. The Ottawa Chamber of Voluntary
Organizations is hosting a community conversation which will focus on the
impact of this upheaval on our organizations, the voluntary sector as a
whole, and our community.
OCVO is inviting representatives from all voluntary sector organizations to
spend time sharing, learning and collaborating in a concurrent small group
format, addressing the following questions;
1. How will the economic downturn affect your clients/participants and
the demand for your services?
2. What is the size of the impact in financial terms?
3. What areas of your organization are most vulnerable?
4. How is your organization planning to respond in the short term (1-2
months) and longer term (3 - 9+ months)?
5. What can be done to support services and infrastructure (i.e.
organizational capacities, collaborative networks, etc)?
6. What suggestions can be tabled to mitigate any negative impact on our
organizations and on our community?
