Subject: [hhno-on] Welcome back, Minister Finley!

The new federal cabinet, announced by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, appears
to have an old, familiar face when it comes to housing and homelessness.

Diane Finley has been re-appointed as Minister of Human Resources and Skills
Development, a post that she held during the first Harper ministry in 2006.

One of her last official tasks as the previous housing and homelessness
minister was to announce the extension of the federal housing and
homelessness programs

While there is usually a day or two to sort out responsibilities, in the
past, the HRSDC minister has also been responsible for Canada Mortgage and
Housing Corporation (the federal housing agency) and also the national
homelessness file (which is part of HRSDC).

In related cabinet news, Chuck Strahl has been appointed as Chair of the
Cabinet Committee on Social Affairs.

Diane Finley is Vice-Chair of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Growth and
Long-term Prosperity.
