Job Title: Manager, Housing Services     

Department: Housing Services

Position Type: Permanent Full-time (1.0 FTE/35 hours per week)

Salary: $45,508 to $50,960 plus benefits

 

East York/East Toronto Family Resources (EYET) is a non-profit organization
that provides a broad range of support and resources in early learning and
care, housing, outreach, and community services to individuals and families
in the community. EYET is committed to providing high quality, inclusive and
accessible programming.

 

Position summary: EYET requires a Manager, Housing Services (HS) that is a
creative/strategic thinker, an effective communicator, organized, and able
to effectively address/process multiple issues and demands. The optimal
candidate has extensive experience in the housing help sector along with
management experience in a not-for-profit environment and is a “big picture”
thinker.  The Manager, HS, provides direction, support and guidance to a
9-person staff team made up of front-line housing help workers as well as
staff involved with sector-wide initiatives including: Resources Exist for
Networking and Training (RENT), LandlordConnect and the Housing Help
Association of Ontario (HHAO). The Manager, HS, reports to the Executive
Director and is part of the Management Team.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

o        Provide leadership to the housing services staff team that is
collaborative, cooperative and constructive

o        Provide effective, regular supervision to housing services staff,
student placements and volunteers including workplanning and performance
evaluation

o        Manage delivery of programs and services including research, needs
assessment, planning, development, implementation, evaluation and reporting

o        Identify and initiate new opportunities to expand the basket of
housing services offered to EYET’s communities

o        Ensure outcome and client satisfaction evaluations are carried out
based upon EYET and funder requirements

o        Lead in the preparation of all funding submission/proposals for
Housing Services

o        Ensure all reports related to Housing Services are prepared in a
timely manner for the Board, funding agencies and other relevant committees
as required

o        Develop and maintain effective contact with all Service and
Community Partners

o        Provide leadership and actively participate in both internal and
external committees as needed including various housing service(s) networks;


o        Ensure exchange of relevant information and resources with staff
team and other community organizations

 

Minimum Qualifications:

o        3 years of post-secondary education or bachelor’s degree, or
equivalent experience in housing help, community development or a related
field

o        2 to 3 years of management experience in non-profit management

o        Proven skills in program design, development, implementation and
evaluation; 

o        Knowledge and understanding of housing issues facing culturally
diverse relevant populations with a focus on health promotions and
accessibility; 

o        Knowledge of services and community organizations in the housing
sector; 

o        Excellent English language writing and verbal skills;

o        Proven proposal writing and grant submission skills;

o        Ability to develop program budgets and monitor program spending;

o        Proven experience in staff supervision;

o        Demonstrated ability to function in a leadership capacity in a team
setting;

o        Demonstrated commitment to social change;

o        Advanced computer and internet literacy including an understanding
of providing community development and social services through online
environments 

o        Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppressive practices and principles
