This sounds like a good option for people who have Para Transpo but are reluctant to use it. Questions should be referred to the links below.

The Taxi Coupon Program is a pilot project that allows Para Transpo customers to take discounted taxi service as an alternative to Para Transpo. You can book your trip, at your convenience, with participating Ottawa taxi companies and save 40% off the regular taxi fare.

Eligibility

All registered Para Transpo customers are eligible to participate in the Taxi Coupon Program.  You need a Para Transpo photo identification card in order to use the coupons. If you are registered but don't have a card, you can get one at an OC Transpo Sales Centre<http://www.octranspo.com/fares/Sales_Info_Centres/TwyMap_SalesOffices.html> or call 613-741-4390 for information. The cards are free.

Taxi Coupons

The cost is $24 for a coupon book worth $40 in taxi fares. Each book has a selection of $1, $2, and $5 coupons. An eligible customer can buy up to four coupon books each month.  Coupons are not refundable and lost or stolen coupons will not be reimbursed. Coupons are for the sole use of the Para Transpo customer who buys them. They cannot be resold or given to anyone else. Anyone who abuses this policy will be ineligible to participate in the program. For customers with a visual impairment, the coupons are identified with hole punches for the different values.

How to Buy Coupon Books

If you're making payment with Visa, Mastercard or American Express, call 613-842-3670.

Mail Orders
Please send a cheque or money order (no cash), payable to the City of Ottawa, in the amount of $24 for one book or $48 for two books, along with your name, mailing address and Para Transpo registration number to:  Para Transpo Taxi Coupon Program  1500 St. Laurent Blvd.,   Ottawa, ON   K1G 0Z8

Book your Taxi Trip

Call any participating Ottawa taxi company directly to book your trip and tell them that you are using the Taxi Coupon Program. The following is a list of the participating taxi companies, which is subject to change:

If you use a mobility device or require assistance, advise the taxi dispatcher when you book your trip.

When paying your taxi fare, you must show your Para Transpo photo identification card.

Coupons will be accepted at their face value. The taxi driver will not provide change from coupons, so please ensure you have extra cash to pay any balance if the fare is not an even amount.   Coupons cannot be used for tips. Friends or family may travel with you, up to the capacity of the vehicle, at no extra charge.  If you are using taxi coupons to pay your meter fare and have any concerns with the taxi service, please call the taxi company directly or the City of Ottawa at 3-1-1.
