Volunteer Community Placement at 

Ottawa ACORN

Ottawa ACORN offers volunteers a community placement, in conjunction with
the City Of Ottawa Community Placement Program for Ontario Works (OW) and
Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) clients. We offer a unique
opportunity to develop skills for community engagement, leadership
development, and non-profit experience.  All volunteers will experience
day-to-day life of a community engagement worker for ACORN's membership,
working on projects and campaigns for low and moderate income communities. 

All volunteers have the opportunity to develop a variety of skills:

Help organize activities events; Gain skills on community outreach in a
variety of ways such as community outreach, phone calls to community
members; Identify hot community issues and help develop campaigns; Develop
community leaders throughout the city; Participate in Leadership schools and
trainings; Building the capacity of the organization; Help with research of
community issues; Help with day to day administrative operations of the
organization

Can I get any benefits for being a Community Placement Volunteer with Ottawa
ACORN?

Ottawa ACORN partners with the City of Ottawa and volunteers are eligible
for receive travel assistance from the government if they are registered
with our volunteer program.
