Dear colleagues,

 

As many of you know the Ottawa Chamber of Voluntary Organizations hosted a Community Conversation in November 2008 on how the voluntary sector would respond to the world-wide economic crisis. Since that time a number of communities in Canada have had similar discussions. In London, PILLAR Nonprofit Network hosted their Community Conversation in December. The Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations conducted a survey recently to determine the impact of the economy on revenue and demand for services. One of the participants at the Ottawa Community Conversation, Margaret Sokol, works at Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. She is interested in learning more about the impact the economy is having on the voluntary sector in Ottawa.

 

I encourage you to respond to this email with your stories, statistics, and thoughts on how your organizations are being affected and will be affected in the future. Let's take this opportunity to have our needs heard and understood.
