HOMELESSNESS PARTNERING STRATEGY (HPS)
TELEFORUM SERIES

HPS partners are invited to participate in this teleforum opportunity that
combines the Web-based viewing of PowerPoint presentations with the
interactivity and accessibility of an audio teleconference.

The Wraparound Process

Wraparound service delivery (also called the Wraparound Process), refers to
a system of individualized care management.  During the Wraparound Process a
team of individuals who are relevant to a person in crisis develop a network
of support to 'Wraparound' the individual.  The team is typically made up of
professionals offering formal interventions such as social workers and
counsellors, as well as friends and family providing interpersonal support
and assistance.  This process is lead by the client helping them to build on
their strengths to achieve their goals.  Two experienced Coordinators in the
Wraparound process will be leading a discussion on this topic at the next
HPS Teleforum.           

	Thursday, June 25th, 2009, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. EST (Ottawa
time). 

Who will be presenting? 

Becky Stretch, BA, MSc., is the Coordinator of the WrapAround Program with
the John Howard Society of Prince Edward Island.  Becky has been with this
local chapter for 4.5 years, having facilitated the program for 2 years
prior to accepting her current position.  Miss Stretch is a member of the
Child & Youth Care Association of PEI and the NB/PEI Criminal Justice
Association.  Her academic background is in Psychology & Criminal Justice
Studies.  Miss Stretch will be sharing details about the John Howard Society
of PEI's WrapAround Program and how it's flexibility on Prince Edward Island
has a continual effect in meeting the ever-changing needs of Islanders. 

Jacqueline Jean-Pierre, Coordinator for the Child Welfare Youth Justice
Diversion project at Oolagen Community Services, joined the organization in
1993.  A Certified Wraparound Facilitator and trained Wraparound Trainer and
Wraparound Coach, Jacqueline graduated with Honours from the George Brown
College Child & Youth Worker program. She holds a Certificate in Infant
Mental Health from York University and received Basic, Intermediate, and
Advance Intensive Training in Choice Theory & Reality Therapy from The
William Glasser Institute.  Driven by her passion to help others, Jacqueline
enjoys working with children and families.  Her friendly nature and positive
attitude enable her to think outside the box in her approach to working with
clients.  Jacqueline has experience working in residential treatment
programs; Assessment Home for children; and has worked for the past 9 years
as a Wraparound Facilitator with street involved youth, young homeless
mothers, moms at risk, and adolescents who are at risk of going in to Care.

The two presentations together should take approximately 45 minutes,
followed by a Question & Answer period of equal length.  Separate English
and French audio channels will be available throughout the teleforum.

L'ITINÉRANCE (SPLI)

Les partenaires de la SPLI sont invités à participer à ce téléforum qui
allie la visualisation de présentations PowerPoint sur le Web et le
caractère interactif et accessible d'une conférence téléphonique.

	L'approche dite « enveloppante »

Ce que certains appellent l'approche « enveloppante » (en anglais,
Wraparound Process) consiste en un système de gestion intégrée de soins.
Grâce à cette approche, la personne en situation de crise est intégrée à une
équipe de personnes qui créent un réseau de soutien personnalisé pour lui
venir en aide. En général, l'équipe est formée de professionnels comme des
travailleurs sociaux et des conseillers qui interviennent de façon
officielle, de même que d'amis et de membres de la famille qui offrent un
soutien interpersonnel. Ce processus est amorcé par le client qui aide
l'équipe à miser sur ses forces en vue d'atteindre ses objectifs. Deux
coordonnatrices d'expérience qui connaissent bien cette approche mèneront
une discussion à ce sujet au prochain téléforum du Secrétariat des
partenariats de lutte contre l'itinérance (SPLI).           

	Le jeudi 25 juin 2009, de 12 h à 13 h 30 HNE (heure d'Ottawa). 

Qui animera le téléforum? 

Becky Stretch, titulaire d'un baccalauréat ès arts et d'une maîtrise ès
sciences, est coordonnatrice du Programme de soins intégrés (en anglais,
Wraparound Program) à la John Howard Society de l'ÎleduPrinceÉdouard. Mme
Stretch a animé le programme pendant deux ans avant d'occuper son poste
actuel au bureau local de l'organisme, auprès duquel elle oeuvre depuis
quatre ans et demi. Membre de la Child and Youth Care Association de
l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard ainsi que de l'Association de justice pénale du
Nouveau-Brunswick et de l'ÎleduPrinceÉdouard, elle a fait des études en
psychologie et en justice pénale. Lors du téléforum, Mme Stretch fournira
des détails au sujet du Programme de soins intégrés de la John Howard
Society de l'ÎleduPrinceÉdouard et expliquera dans quelle mesure la
souplesse du Programme permet de répondre continuellement aux besoins en
constante évolution des PrinceÉdouardiens. 

Jacqueline Jean-Pierre, coordonnatrice du projet Child Welfare Youth Justice
Diversion réalisé par l'Oolagen Community Services, s'est jointe à
l'organisme en 1993. Animatrice agréée, formatrice et encadreure du
Programme de soins intégrés, Mme Jean-Pierre a obtenu un diplôme avec
distinction du Collège George Brown avec spécialisation en Techniques
d'éducation spécialisée. Elle détient également un certificat de
l'Université York avec spécialisation en santé mentale du nourrisson. En
outre, elle a suivi un cours intensif de niveaux débutant, intermédiaire et
avancé, intitulé Choice Theory & Reality Therapy et donné à l'Institut
William Glasser. Motivée par le désir d'aider les autres, Mme Jean-Pierre
aime travailler avec les enfants et leur famille. Sa personnalité
sympathique et son attitude positive lui permettent de sortir des sentiers
battus dans son approche auprès des clients. Jacqueline a acquis de
l'expérience en participant à des programmes de traitement en établissement
et en travaillant dans un foyer d'évaluation pour enfants. Depuis les neuf
dernières années, elle travaille comme animatrice du Programme de soins
intégrés et intervient auprès des jeunes de la rue, des jeunes mères sans
abri et celles qui risquent de le devenir, et des adolescents susceptibles
d'être pris en charge par des services d'aide.

Les deux présentations devraient durer environ 45 minutes au total, suivies
d'une séance de questions-réponses de la même durée. Des canaux sonores en
anglais et en français seront accessibles tout au long du téléforum.
