YOU ARE INVITED TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AT THE OTTAWA/GATINEAU AREA:

*STAND UP AND TAKE ACTION TO END POVERTY NOW**
ON PARLIAMENT HILL
FRIDAY OCTOBER 16TH at 12 NOON*

There will be music, poetry and short speeches.  There will be a Pledge.
But most of all, at this year’s “STAND UP AND TAKE ACTION TO END POVERTY
NOW”, there will be the collective force of your passion and determination *to
send a message to Canada’s politicians and world leaders that action is
needed now to alleviate the suffering of poor people at home and around the
world.**

Last year STAND UP broke the Guinness World Record for the largest
mobilization in recorded history.  116.9 million people stood strong against
poverty. The numbers go up every year and it’s especially important that we
break last year’s record.

*Over the next ten months, the eyes of the world will be on Canada.*  The
leaders of the world’s richest and the world’s emerging nations are
gathering in Huntsville, Ontario next June for meetings of the G 8 and the
G20.  We need to tell them with all the force we can muster, that they must
live up to the promises they made in the Millennium Development
Goals<http://list.makepovertyhistory.ca/e/lists/lt.php?id=KRpRUQRWBg0ABBhQBQpPAFtVAlYH>.
There are only 6 years left to make good on those commitments and in many
areas we are falling woefully behind.  The cost to us is shame, to thousands
every day, our failure costs them their lives.

*MAKE POVERTY HISTORY and THE DIGNITY FOR ALL CAMPAIGN are working together
to spread the word that poverty reduction in Canada is possible and
essential. *  Governments both federal and provincial need only to adopt
meaningful poverty reduction plans and stick to them.

There are dozens of events planned all across Canada and we are hoping you
will join us on *PARLIAMENT HILL** ON** FRIDAY OCTOBER 16TH AT 12 NOON * to
be part of the biggest count ever.  Dr Lee Percussion will be drumming us in
to our rally,  Mellow Dee will put our hopes for a better world to song and
the poetry of b!WILDer will inspire us.

We’ll also be joined by marchers from *The Art of Living Foundation* who
will take the pledge with us and hold a brief meditation for peace.

Il y aura de la musique, de la poésie et de brefs discours. La Déclaration
de solidarité sera lue. Mais plus que tout, lors de l'événement DEBOUT ET
AGISSEZ POUR METTRE FIN À LA PAUVRETÉ MAINTENANT de cette année, il y aura
la force collective de votre passion et de votre détermination *à envoyer un
message aux politiciens et aux dirigeants du Canada qu’une action est
requise maintenant afin de soulager la souffrance des personnes pauvres au
pays et partout dans le monde.*

L’année dernière, DEBOUT a fracassé le record mondial Guinness pour la plus
importante mobilisation de l’histoire. 116,9 millions de personnes se sont
tenues debout contre la pauvreté. Le nombre augmente d’année en année et il
est particulièrement important que nous fracassions le record de l'année der

*Au cours des dix prochains mois, les yeux du monde seront rivés sur le
Canada.* Les dirigeants des pays les plus riches et des pays émergents du
monde se réuniront à Huntsville, en Ontario, au mois de juin prochain pour
le G8 et le G20. Nous devons leur faire comprendre avec toute notre énergie,

Il ne reste que 6 ans pour honorer ces engagements et nous accusons un
retard important à plusieurs égards. Le coût pour nous sera la honte, alors
que chaque jour des milliers de personnes paieront notre échec de leurs
vies.

*LES CAMPAGNES ABOLISSONS LA PAUVRETÉ et DIGNITÉ POUR TOUS travaillent
ensemble pour diffuser le message que la réduction de la pauvreté au Canada
est! possibl e et essentielle. *Les gouvernements fédéral et provinciaux
doivent simplement adopter des plans de réduction de la pauvreté efficaces
et les respecter.

Il y a des douzaines d’événements planifiés partout au Canada et nous
espérons que vous vous joindrez à nous sur* LA COLLINE PARLEMENTAIRE LE
VENDREDI 16 OCTOBRE À MIDI* pour prendre part au plus important
rassemblement de notre histoire.

Dr Lee Percussion sera à la batterie pour nous accueillir, Mellow Dee mettra
