The Centretown Citizens Community Association’s Safety Committee is proud to
be hosting a Community Conversation on the SCAN Legislation (Safer Community
and Neighbourhood).  Tabled at Queen’s Park in Toronto by Ottawa Centre MPP
Yasir Naqvi (see attached document) Bill 106, now in its third reading,
would enable a municipality or board area to deal with complaints regarding
properties that are habitually used for activities that have an adverse
effect on a community or neighbourhood. For more information on Bill 106,

This non-partisan community event is being held to give those in Centretown
an opportunity to know more about the SCAN legislation.  The evening will
begin with a few words from MPP Naqvi on his proposed legislation, followed
by a panel discussion where the floor will be opened for questions. 

 

 

Event Details:

When:  May 13th, 7:30 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. (Doors open at 7:00 P.M.

Where:  Dominion Chalmers Church (Cooper at O’Connor Streets – Main floor.
Parking and accessibility from on Lisgar Street).  

Moderator:  Graham Richardson, CTV News at 6 Anchor.

Panelists: in alphabetical order.

*           Anne Lévesque (Human rights, employment, and disability
advocate)

*           Rob MacDonald (Representative for Housing Help)

*           Cheryl Parrott (Volunteer Co-Chair of the Security Committee of
the Hintonburg Community Association)

*           Nancy Worsfold (Executive Director, Crime Prevention Ottawa)

 


  IMPORTANT NOTE:  Space is limited and priority seating will be given to
those living in Centretown.  The Community Conversation is an information
session and not a rally in support of either side of the issue.
