Hello, 

 

Here is some information on a new agency in Ottawa - HELPING FOR HOMES - Helping for Homes, a new agency in Ottawa, is launching services on October 1st, 2010.

 

Helping for Homes was created as a means to help the marginally housed obtain basic needs for independent living.  Items that we have in stock

include: dishes, pots, pans, utensils, cutlery, towels, bedding, cleaning products etc.

 

Anyone who identifies as a low income individual can access the inventory at Helping for Homes.  All an individual needs to do is send us an email at helpingforhomes at gmail.com, we will respond by the next business day and try our best to deliver the items within two business days.  If the individual does not have an email account they can ask someone to send the email on their behalf.

 

For individuals who are moving into a new place we have a "move-in basket"

to help with setting up a room or apartment.  Items in the basket are: A laundry basket, plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, spatula, wooden spoon, ladle, can opener, cutlery, dish cloth/soap, towel, kleenex, toilet paper, garbage bags, note pad, pen, and a pot and pan.

 

To help keep our administrative costs down we try to conduct all business via email and we do not have a physical location that individuals can go to.  We understand that individuals may not want to give their home address for us to make deliveries to, if this is the case we will make arrangements to deliver items to a community agency.
